Strays book cover

My latest middle grade book Strays released June 2, 2026. This book comes from a truly personal place, and I’d love for you to read about it on my 6/3/26 blog post.

As for today's post, have you ever heard of the Cat Distribution System? It’s a viral trend that suggests cats often choose their owners, not the other way around. The CDS is initiated when someone comes across an abandoned cat in a parking lot, finds an orphaned kitten hunkered for warmth under their car, or a stray cat just happens upon them and claims them as their personal property.

On today’s Wet Nose Wednesday, we meet Nox. All it took was a friendly meow from Ashley for Nox to claim her and her family as his beautiful forever.

In the video, Ashley makes a point about the stigma of black cats, and how because of this they’re often the last to be adopted. If you’re in the market for a new feline companion, please keep Nox’s story in mind. If you love this story, follow on IG @princenoxthecat.

And as I say, animals bring so much hope, humor, love and compassion into our lives. Let's keep making the world better. For them and for us. Thanks!
