My latest middle grade book Strays releases June 2, 2026. This book comes from a truly personal place, but that story will have its own space in a future blog.

In the meantime, I’m pondering this question: what does it mean to be a stray? In my upcoming novel, the stray pup is tossed out of a moving vehicle. But not all lost souls are discarded in such an awful way. Some strays might have a home, but they’re neglected in some way. Maybe they have food insecurity due to scheduling or financial reasons. Or they’re simply withheld attention and affection, for whatever reason. A bother to have around. There are a lot of ways to be a stray. Today's Wet Nose Wednesday celebrates Bella. A dog whose neighborhood wanderings (and some fence crawlings) eventually led her to a forever home. To a family who truly needed her. Watch the video for Bella's story.
As I say, animals bring so much hope, humor, love and compassion into our lives. As I continue with Wet Nose Wednesdays, I want to share heartwarming and extraordinary tales (and sometimes tails) about the greatness and inspiration of animals. As pets or otherwise. Let's keep making the world better. For them and for us.
And if you want to know more about Bella and her chosen family, follow them at here.comesbella.
