My latest middle grade book Strays releases June 2, 2026. This book comes from a truly personal place, but we'll save that story for a future blog post. Promise.

Today's Wet Nose Wednesday celebrates a sweet, smiley, stray doberman named Moon. Part of my daily good news snacks is watching animal videos on The Dodo. Kelsey of The McDonough Rescue spends time in overcrowded shelters to help dogs like Moon get out. And during one of Kelsey's visits she met this beautiful, patient pup. When she couldn't get that gentle face out of her mind (by the next morning), she brought Moon home. Soon she was able to transition her to a foster and a week later ... adoption magic! Through Kelsey's support, Moon went from shelter dog to forever family with two (differently sized) doberman mixes. Here's the video.
Animals bring so much hope, humor, love and compassion into our lives. As I continue with Wet Nose Wednesday, I want to share some heartwarming and extraordinary tales (and sometimes tails) about the greatness and inspiration of animals. As pets or otherwise.
Let's keep making the world better. For them and for us.
