My latest middle grade book Strays releases June 2, 2026. This book comes from a truly personal place, but all in good time on a future blog. I will say this. The stray pup in my book is dumped on the street by ill-intentioned people. And that does happen. But a lot of times, well-meaning adopters sometimes find themselves in a position of not being able to care for the animals they bring home. That happens with greater frequency around certain holidays but can also be due to changes in financial situations, an unexpected move - all kinds of reasons. The one thing that is never okay is dumping an animal and leaving it to fend for itself. There are always alternative solutions, and furry, feathered, finned, or even scaly creatures deserve better.

For today's Wet Nose Wednesday, I'm highlighting the work of Little Heart Rescue. When two guinea pigs were dumped in a large park in Northern California, Little Heart Rescue came to their aid.
As I say, animals bring so much hope, humor, love and compassion into our lives. As I continue with Wet Nose Wednesday, I want to share heartwarming and extraordinary tales (and sometimes tails) about the greatness and inspiration of animals and the people who honor them. Let's keep making the world better. For them and for us.
